The SME Stock Exchange is the result of a collaborative effort between the SME Association of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange. It is meant to be a means for medium sized enterprises to graduate into large corporations through bringing on board new shareholders and management skills. The expected launch date is the 27th of September 2013.
Businesses that qualify for this bourse must be:
- medium-sized enterprises with total assets in excess of $500 000.
- have a scalable business model (i.e. capable of growing to a national/international entity).
- be prepared to introduce proper corporate governance standards within their operation.
